Advisory Panelist Nomination Process Underway

The Prince George’s Arts Council is instituting a new Panelist Nomination Process to assist with the review of grant applications for the coming year. All residents of Prince George’s County are encouraged to recommend potential advisory grant panelists. When nominating another person, please be sure that they are willing to serve before submitting their name for consideration. Qualified individuals may also self-nominate. Please download and complete the necessary forms.

Virtual Prince George’s which was organized in conjunction with FotoWeekDC and juried by photographers Mark Power and Barbara Tyroler and closes November 28.

Photographers chosen for the exhibition live or work in Prince George’s County. They include Steve Abramowitz, Christopher Anderson, Janet Berry, Graham P. Boyle, Larry William Cass Jr., Nicole Dao, Bob Greene, Juan Carlos Joge, Katherine Jones, Kisook Lee-Suss, Peter Malinoski, Janet Matthews, Melisa Matthews, Ashley J Mclenon, Camille Mosley-Pasley, Melissa Nyman, Nazanin Refaat, Nora Simon, Fran Stetina and Emily Todd.

The exhibition is on view at the gallery from 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday and online. Works can also be seen on monitors in the lobbies of the Montpelier Arts Center, the Greenbelt Community Center, Harmony Hall Regional Center, and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission at 6600 Kenilworth Ave, Riverdale, MD.

Virtual Prince George’s and Metro 3 Gallery Exhibitions are programs of The Prince George’s Arts Council, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and with support from United Photo and Penn Camera.

New Deadline for Grant Cycle II: January 5

The deadline for Grant Cycle II has been postponed in light of the $345 million in budget reductions recently approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works. Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) will be reduced by $2,269,000 in an effort to balance Maryland’s Fiscal Year 2009 budget and prepare for expected shortfalls in FY2010. A significant portion of Prince George’s Arts Council’s funding is provided by MSAC.

FotoWeekDC: Exhibit Deadline Extended

In conjunction with FotoWeekDC, the Prince George’s Arts Council is hosting Virtual Prince George’s at the Metro 3 Gallery. The deadline has been extended to Oct. 10!

The exhibition is open to all photographers over the age of 18 who live or work in Prince George’s County. Held in conjunction with FotoWeekDC, the exhibition will be juried by photographers Mark Power and Barbara Tyroler. The deadline for CD submissions has been extended to October 10. Learn about the basics of writing a proposal for your nonprofit organization. If you are new to proposal writing, you probably have many questions. This workshop, an introductory overview of the process for new proposal writers, will give you some answers! Presented by Janice Rosenberg of the Foundation Center.
